The Republicans reverse on Immigration Reform is due to lack of votes. Jon McCain said it himself. They lost the latino vote. So, due to politics, they will compensate on immigration reform. Not because it is right, but, because they need the votes. Getting elected is more important to Republicans than doing what is right for this country.

I want a progressive society, not a progressive government. A progressive government means that our society has failed us and is lazy.
