Tavis Smiley out as Peoria MLK luncheon speaker
a local book club of women said that they were to boycott the luncheon because Smiley has been critical of Smiley's views of Obama not doing enough for the black community. I, for one am tired of blacks crying about the government not doing enough for them. They get college tuitions just for being black which the rest of America pays for. They get jobs just for being black. Tavis Smiley has long been a proponent of blacks. Martin Luther King was a propenent of civil rights and the freedom of speech, not of Obama being president. Peoria has staind itself by telling Smiley he cannot speak here after they invited him here. I want a progressive society, not a progressive government. A progressive government means that our society has failed us and is lazy.
